Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and was able to relax and spend some quality time with your families. It is so hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that we are now welcoming in 2019!
As with every New Year celebration, the Catholic Church pauses to commemorate the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God. It is no coincidence that our Church begins the new year focusing on our Blessed Mother. Mary is a beautiful image of hope for our Church. From the moment of the Immaculate Conception, she was hope for such a weary world in need of God’s grace and salvation.
As we begin a new year, it is my prayer that Mary will be a source of hope for each of you. Whatever it is that you need during this new year, may she be your source of inspiration and guidance.
For this new year, my wish for all of us is for peace and happiness, good health and the realization that life is lived in the everyday simple moments. Those moments when you cuddle up on the couch to watch another 3 episodes of the Mickey Mouse Club with your young children or grandchildren or playing one more game of monopoly, even though you have mail to read and bills to pay. To quote Ferris Bueller, “life moves fast, you have to take time to look around”. May we all take time to look around this year.
As we journey into this New Year, please continue to keep all our students, staff members and families in your prayers. Ask that God continues to bless us all with His Grace.
Wishing you all blessings of health and happiness for 2019!
