I hope this letter finds you well. As we enter the spring season, I am writing to update you on our remote learning plans for the rest of the year. First, I would like to express my gratitude for all our students, parents, teachers, and staff for their flexibility in the face of this unprecedented situation. Our community stepped up to the challenge for the benefit of all our students. Thank you.
After careful discernment and examination of our local situation, we have decided to conclude our formal remote academic instruction on Friday, May 22. At that point, students on track for promotion to the next grade will formally complete their current grade and be cleared to advance in the fall. If you have any specific questions about your student, please do not hesitate to contact the child’s teacher or myself at [email protected].
It is important to note that this does not mark the
end of our work together and support of each other; rather, we look forward to shifting to a method of togetherness that best suits our community’s needs during the summer months. We recognize it is important to stay connected and spiritually close during this unique time of social distancing. To that end, beginning the week of May 26th Father Andrew will continue to celebrate the Children’s Mass on Wednesdays at 9:00 AM. We intend to offer regular, optional weekly check-ins on Wednesdays during the upcoming summer months, as a way to keep our community engaged and to offer a vital source of support to our families. We are also exploring the possibility of coming together in-person, God willing, later in the summer when and if it is deemed safe by health and government authorities to have time for closure in the school building for this school year. We will communicate more soon about these efforts.
I understand some of our families may have students attending other schools, including nearby high schools. Please know that the Archdiocese of Detroit’s Department of Catholic Schools Department has encouraged all 87 Catholic schools to make decisions regarding the academic year to best fit each community. For more information about another school’s plan going forward, please contact that administration.
Thank you again for your continued partnership and heroic efforts during this time. May God bless you and your families with health, safety, and comfort during this extraordinary time.
St. Clare of Montefalco, pray for us!
Very truly yours,
Ann K. Crowley Principal
