Dear St. Clare of Montefalco Families,
 
We welcome a few new families into our fold. This afternoon we  have 117 students enrolled  with multiple names on waiting lists for different grades. We will lock registration August 28 ^th .  Classrooms will become safe spaces for the children and teachers. The group that begins August 31 ^st will be the cohort group for the first semester. No new students will be admitted into cohort groups until semester break if it is found to be safe to make that adjustment.
 
Families, especially new families,  please look at the school website, www.stclareschool.net, for past newsletters that give information for Supply Lists, School Calendar, and Classroom/Family Orientation meetings. All past newsletters are found on the website so you do not need to search your email.
 
St. Clare of Montefalco School will error on the side of safety for the children and staff at all times during this pandemic. It was shared at my AOD Principal’s Meeting Wednesday that some schools are making  all children in grades KG through grade 8 wear masks at all times inside the school and classrooms. We will implement this at St. Clare of Montefalco School.  Due to the fact that Recess, Gym and Lunch are all held outside when weather permits, if appropriate, the children will not wear masks during these experiences. Remember I am holding to temperature checks at cars before students are released to come into school.  If any child has a temperature above 100.5 we are going to send the entire car of children home for the day. Thorough details will be explained at our orientation meetings. You need to know we are heavily investing in PPE resources to be as ready as we can be to host students in our school and classrooms.
 
Information is coming out routinely with details about opening schools.  Please check your email daily because I will keep you informed. Many have asked about online instruction. We are checking to see if there is a way we can make this an option. Currently it is not an option as the school is following the Archdiocese of Detroit Phase 4 Plan. 
 
Latchkey will not begin until Monday, September 14. We need to become familiar with the new normal school day before opening Latchkey. Preschool may have a delayed opening. This is all to be determined in the next week and you will be kept apprised.
 
Important Dates:
 
1. Sweeney Center Dumpster Volunteers Needed: Friday thru Sunday, August 7 ^th thru 9 ^th. Between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM
2. Tentative Girls Volleyball Begins: Monday, August 10 ^th at 7 PM
3. Last Classroom  Zoom Meet Up August 12 Teachers will meet with their 2019/2020 class for the last time. These meet ups strengthened our family spiritual bonds.
4. Tentative Boys and Girls Soccer Begins: Monday, August 17 ^{t h}
5. “The Lion King, Jr” will be available for streaming beginning August 20, 2020.
6. Classroom Orientation Meetings:  August 24, 2020 (see school website for your child’s date and time)
7. First Day of KG – GD 8 School Monday, August 31: 7:55 Arrival and 12:00 Dismissal
8. First Full Days KG - GD8 , Tuesday – Thursday, September 1-3:  7:55  Arrival  and  3:30 Dismissal.
9. Preschool First Day and Schedule -- TBA
10. Labor Day Weekend Break: Friday through Monday September 4-7
11. Return from Labor Day Break –Tuesday, September 8, 2020
12. Latchkey Begins September 14, 2020
