This has been a week filled with faith, fun, excellence, and service. We had perfect attendance two days in row. I thought it was because of Pajama Day but the next day when full uniforms had to be worn, we had perfect attendance again. Students participated in honoring our clergy on Vocation Day and contributed significantly to our Veterans writing thank you cards to them and filling baskets with donations. Those donations will be delivered Tuesday, February 9
th, after school to the John Dingell Veterans Hospital in the Medical Center. We will still take items for the baskets Monday. Report cards went home Wednesday and Friday is conferences for parents who wish to speak with teachers in zoom.
Next week we complete Middle of the Year STAR testing. Everyone is eager to see how the young people grew academically while with us in person and virtually. We believe we continued the continuity of the curriculum for the students. The results will guide instruction for the remainder of the school year. Please see the days your children will be testing below in Important Dates and Reminders. Make sure they get a good night of sleep and eat a good breakfast everyday but especially the days of testing.
Parents please do not drive up to the side door of the school at any time. The school and the Sweeney Center are connected by the black top which is also used for recess, gym, and some classes during the school day. Additionally, please do not park or drive through the lane closest to the Mack doors of the main school building. The youngest students use that door to enter the school building every day. If you arrive late or are picking up a child early, please just pull into the parking lot near the church. Call into the school and we will make sure we bring your child in or out.
Next week teachers will complete the yearly Circle of Grace program Sister Kathy is in charge of for our students. As part of the Protect God’s Children program, the students are guided in how to make sure they are making safe choices and protecting themselves. If you do not want your child to participate you need to send their teacher a note.
