The weather is breaking, and we are enjoying being outside more and more. Students will now line up outside in the morning and go outside at recess to appreciate the fresh air. Only three and half months left to stay strong against COVID-19 and remain face to face for instruction. Families I know I say this almost every newsletter but thank you for your diligence. Families’ children who traveled by plane over break returned to school today. It’s not easy quarantining and staying current with school work. You families are going the distance. Thank you so much for this.
Children are stepping up and meeting the
uniform guidelines in most classrooms. Kindergarten and Grade 1 looked like fine falcons Wednesday. I took note of their appearance as the young learners were dressed fully in uniform attire. Appearance says so much. We want everyone to know about the pride we have being part of St. Clare of Montefalco Catholic School.
Black History Morning Announcement volunteers have shared people important to them. We applaud the courage these young people demonstrate zooming in front of the entire school. The students who have volunteered along with the person they spoke about are as follows: Lauren Harris/Maya Angelou, Franca Grassi/Michelle Obama, Mina Grassi/Ruby Bridges, Anna Albright/Ida B. Wells, Melrose Stafford/Ruby Bridges, Piper Gotfredson/Rosa Parks, Conner Watson/Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, Wells Webber/Willie O'Ree, Claire Tocco/Mae Jemison.
STAR testing is completed. Customized Parent Diagnostic Letters will be sent to the school around March 18
th. When they arrive, we will send each child’s parent letter home with them. You will appreciate seeing the growth your children made during these trying pandemic times. We lost no ground and most students gained on so many fronts.
National Junior Honor Society is sponsoring their Service through Prayer event. They assigned names to each classroom of parishioners who requested prayers (retrieved from the bulletin). Each class is writing a prayer with those parishioners in mind and will put that prayer on a poster, along with the names of the parishioners and the students in the class. Classes are also participating in other activities: grades PK-2 are coloring pictures, grades 3-5 are making bookmarks with Bible verses, and grades 6-8 are making rosaries. The NJHS students are very excited about leading this event.
