During this revolutionary time on the educational front, our St. Clare of Montefalco School has been humming along barely missing a beat. That is due to the excellent educators, committed families and supportive parish community that embrace our children and put them first every day.
There were many positive moments from the short week. Grades 7 and 8 zoomed together and presented their historical figure boards with some students even in costume presenting. Grade 6 interacted with Ms. White and Ms. Nader both. Grade 5 participated in live time lessons with Ms. Nader. Grades 1 through 4 zoomed and had much contact with their teachers through Class Dojo. Kindergarteners continued in their “GO” Books and everyone loved Mrs. Pawlowski’s Daily Videos. She is becoming a local celebrity. Our Preschool students searched for signs of Spring and continued exploring their “Question of the Day” with Ms. Sue and Ms. Nancy. Thank you for the volunteering support of Ms. Harris and Sr. Kathy. They help keep us all connected. Ms. Cooley taught her Math class and worked with Mrs. Conlan who so diligently edited Report Cards. Parents thank you all for your support. You made this venture into the virtual instructional world much smoother for everyone. From here on out your children in grades 3 through 8 will need to be the main person to let their teachers know they are participating in classrooms. Job well done parents and families.
Important Updates
1. AOD Scholarship Due Date extended to May 15. There will only be one round of granting scholarships this year. I suggest contacting Ann Conlan to make sure you meet the deadline even before May 15th. She will guide you in attaining form for Pastor Signature.
2. Report Cards were sent home April 8 by your children’s teachers to parent email addresses. They are also available on PowerSchool.
3. AR Points must still be earned. Remember 3rd quarter and 4th quarter will be combined.
4. Attendance: Students in Grades 3 thru 8 must check in with teachers each day to be marked present. They must indicate they have received Daily Lessons and should be submitting work. Younger students may check in too or parents may do it for them daily.
5. Academic questions and submission of work needs to be addressed either through email, Class Dojo, Zoom, Google Classroom or whatever platform teachers are using with the students. Questions and lessons will be tracked so we are able to garner information from this Distance Learning experience. Thank you everyone for staying within these guidelines so there is a real division between school connectivity interaction and personal time interaction. We are all adjusting and doing fabulously I must say.
6. Zoom classes are for teachers and their students. Parents and family members may observe but participation in Zoom time is sacred between teacher and their class. A tight schedule is being maintained and teachers are trying to engage all the students in a very short period of time.
7. End of the school year dates are being explored by the AOD. All schools should know something definitive about this next week. I will keep you informed at some point upon return from Easter Break.
8. Assessment: A simple reminder that 4th Marking period will be Pass/Fail/Exempt. Final grades will be determined averaging the first three card markings as well as factoring in the level of participation students had in the Distance Learning Platform 4th quarter.
Now all families get to enjoy a 5 day break as the school looks forward to returning Tuesday to continue celebrating together the 50 Days of Easter.
Finally I must share this constant directive from the Archdiocese again.
If anyone in your family has a confirmed case of Coronavirus 19 you must send me that information immediately. My email address is [email protected].
Peace, safe health, and love sent your way,
Ms. Crowley Principal St. Clare of Montefalco Catholic School
