In fifth-grade class, the year is off and running. We have two new members in our classroom, a Crested Gecko, and a green Tree Frog. The students are enjoying science with our animal project. The students brought in an insect or spider and are taking care of its needs for two weeks when they will present their project paper and poster board. We recently did a science lab on turning food into energy to show how an animal gets its energy. The students have also dissected an Owl pellet to see what it had eaten.
In Language Arts the students are working on Critical thinking in reading and Nouns in English. The students are learning all the important Geography terms in Social Studies to help them when it comes time to researching the Western World. In Religion they are learning about ways they can spread the Gospel. We will be learning about all the Sacraments this year.
In Miss Knaus’s math class the students are learning how to write numbers in expanded form. They are also working with decimals.
