We at St. Clare of Montefalco School want to assure families that children and their safety is primary before all else. The Archdiocese of Detroit Catholic School District is offering face to face instruction as the primary means of instruction to all of its families this school year. Hearing the concerns of families here at St. Clare of Montefalco around face to face instruction and wanting some form of online instruction option we were able to work out the following.
Here is what that option will entail. Students may remain with St. Clare of Montefalco School in a home-schooling fashion.
1. Teachers will post lesson plans each week in Google Classroom.
2. Students will submit assignments in their Google Classroom daily.
3. All assignments in the teacher’s lesson plans must be submitted the day indicated in the plan that they are due.
4. Teachers will grade all students’ work.
5. Grades for students will be recorded in PowerSchool .
6. Grades will always be available for parents and students to view.
7. Students will participate in Distance Learning Fridays with their classmates.
8. Instruction will be done at home and not by the teachers Monday thru Thursday.
9. STAR testing will be done at school.
10. This option must be selected by 12:00 September 3, 2020. Form will be shared at Orientation.
11. The first day of the online instruction option will begin Tuesday, September 8, 2020.
12. Attendance will be done upon completion of daily work the day it is due.
13. Arrangements will be made for retrieval of books and materials needed to complete work.
14. Progress reports will be completed mid quarter. If progress reports indicate a student is struggling and continues to struggle at first marking, the school will require the student to attend school in person beginning second quarter.
Other updates since Thursday: 1. Paper towels, a labeled spray bottle, and liquid antibacterial soap is acceptable instead of wipes for children seeing wipes are difficult to find.
2. Children need a pack of brown paper lunch bags to use for garbage at their desks.
3. Only student and parent are to attend Orientation for safety reasons. We encourage just one parent to attend with student.
Thank you everyone for your flexibility. Your questions will be addressed at orientation meetings next week.
