Last year, St. Clare School, went through the Archdiocese of Detroit Accreditation process. It was a long and tedious process as we wrote a report and collected evidence showing we continue to meet the requirements for accreditation. The accreditation process involved addressing 13 standards and 70 benchmarks that correspond to those standards, compiling a report of our findings and attaching evidence that supports what our report stated. Each of the standard falls under the one of the following areas: Mission and Catholic Identity, Governance and Leadership, Academic Excellence and Operational Vitality. This was a very comprehensive self-study of our school and involved a great deal of time and effort by the faculty, staff and our supporting school committees of PTO, School Commission, and Finance. In May, the Accreditation Site Team came together at St. Clare to discuss and score our self-study report and evidence.
I am happy to report that St. Clare School has been accredited again. In the site team’s summation, they stated that St. Clare is a campus where the spirit of joy is pervasively felt. They expressed clearly that the teachers were here at St. Clare to be good stewards spreading the word of Christ to their students and the community. The team also felt that collaborative parties, such as the School Commission and PTO, communicated their dedication love and support for the school and their commitment to spread the good news of the school to the existing and outward community. Finally, the sight team commended Fr. Andrew for his support of Catholic education at St. Clare. It was evident in how he spoke about the mission, the students, families, faculty and staff.
