Many of you had children go through Ms. Sue Reik's preschool classroom. Sadly, I share that
Ms. Sue's mother passed away Wednesday morning. Please keep Ms. Sue and her family in your prayers. This is the second family member Ms. Sue has lost in just a few months. Her sister passed away at the end of this past school year.
Please know we want to make sure you are always aware of what is going on in your child's classroom.
New families, please reach out to teachers if you have questions or concerns. You make us aware of information we think you know but actually do not know. All families should feel comfortable with knowing what your children are doing in the school every day. Teachers will send home schedules. The schedules will change again as we fill positions in our special subject areas with certified staff. We have excellent coverage by Mrs. Jody Corbett for Library and Art currently. A new art teacher from Cranbrook with experience at Barack Obama Leadership Academy will be joining us soon. The schedule will change according to Berkley Public Schools' placement of the teacher.
There will not be a Virtual Friday on October 8th. Students will have in-person school. Thank you families for your participation on September 24th. We had very few issues with implementing our virtual program, so we find no need to host another virtual practice day this semester.
The
school lunch program is in place and the October calendar orders were submitted. Families, the lunch program is far from acceptable. The Archdiocese of Detroit is hearing from almost all the schools about our dissatisfaction with what we are receiving to feed the children. It is not just the items but also the quantity. The Archdiocese is very aware of all of our concerns. You do not need to send a full lunch as we get fruit cups, chips, vegetables, and dips. Please be aware that you may want to send a small sandwich or cheese or peanut butter snack crackers with your children if you are relying on the lunch to fill them up until dismissal.
Important Dates and Reminders: 1.Long slacks needed - October 1st (no more shorts until May)
2.Preschool closed for Monday only - October 4th
3.Blessing of the Pets - October 5th 3:00
