We begin Easter Break as we finish our third marking quarter here at school. We are one year in from the beginning of the pandemic and our children and school families made adjustments to remain safe this school year. We prepared carefully for face to face instruction in the Fall and implemented virtual instruction when needed. STAR testing revealed our children did not suffer the monumental academic loss experts were predicting would occur with young people. That is a tribute to the teachers remaining synchronous each and every day with their students unlike most other schools. The tribute is to parents for keeping up with the students during that virtual time. The tribute is to the students as they adjusted their learning style from in person to virtual to in person to virtual. Please open this post to view the complete newsletter.
Virtual School First Week After Break The entire school will be virtual the first week back from April 12th thru April 16th. The increase in COVID cases in schools, across the metro area, and in Michigan are reason for this caution to be taken. Families you need to know that if you leave the State of Michigan your children will need to quarantine for 10 to 14 days upon the day of your return whether you travel by plane or car. Some of those days may occur while the entire school is virtual. If you do not reach the 14 days during the virtual period, you will need to complete those 14 days during the days the students first return in person April 19th. The students in Grades Kindergarten thru Grade Eight are bringing home their STAR Parent Reports. Please review the information contained in the reports. Here is a link to a meeting to the Star Session for Parents - Recording where Dr. Barbara Wright provides a 20 minute recording that should help you understand how to read the reports.

This weather has created an upbeat mood in our school community. The promise of Spring is upon us. Parents thank you for sending your children with proper jackets to wear. They are not allowed to be without jackets under sixty degrees during recess. Please open this post to view the complete newsletter.
I hope this finds you all doing well. Please, I encourage you to attend the meeting this evening. Only parents will be in attendance. No administrators or teachers will be present. This is your time to share your thoughts about the school with each other. Ms. Freda Sampson and Ms. Reanne Young will guide the meeting and answer your questions. This is to alert you that our Grade 8 classroom is virtual for ten days due to a student in the room testing positive for COVID-19. Know that grades 6, 7, and 8 are in the same cohort group but the students do not cross into each other's classrooms. All other students are in different cohort groups so they do not use the same hallway or entry doors. Grades 3, 4, and 5 use the same big group lavatories but are monitored by their teachers in their use. All students in PK thru GD 2 have no contact with the older children.
