The first week of our Title I summer program has been off to a great start this week. We are thrilled to have two full classrooms with students working on their summer learning. Seeing students back in the classrooms is making everyone very excited to welcome all our students back in a month. Yes, as hard as it is to believe, the first day of school is almost exactly one month away! Please open this post to view the complete newsletter.
I am pleased to announce that the Archdiocese of Detroit released the Back to School Plan for the 2021/2022 school year. Please take the time to open this document as it will also be the Back to School Plan for St. Clare of Montefalco Catholic Elementary School. At this point in time, mask wearing is not being mandated but is being encouraged for those who are not vaccinated. That is where we are at with the children and teachers at St. Clare of Montefalco. Constant reevaluation will be happening as the weeks move forward. Conditions in the community will affect decision making around mask wearing. Please open this post to view the complete newsletter.
We will NOT be holding our Used Book Sale this fall. Due to the cancelled event and the flooding that occurred in the school building, we are unable to accept book donations at this time. Donors and supporters, please look for an announcement in the spring regarding the 2022 Book Sale. We thank you all for your continued support as we move ahead with preparing the school for the upcoming school year.
I hope you are all doing well. Please remind your children to keep up with their Summer Reading. Thank you Ms. Jones for providing the Pizza Hut Reading link below. This newsletter will contain information and links you may be interested in knowing. I am on a short vacation but wanted to make sure you have these updates. Some of the information is repetitive and some is new. I will list information numerically. Please open this post to view the complete newsletter.
We made it through the pandemic last school year. This summer we are contending with flooding. Our basement level needs extensive renovation after taking on significant water two weeks ago. Our facilities manager, Mike McDevitt, is working around the clock with insurance adjustors, the Archdiocese of Detroit Building Department, and contractors. We are thankful for Mike and his endless commitment to the school. We are blessed to have insurance to cover most of what needs to be reconstructed.
